New Chapel

-Thanks to the generous donations from those who support MLGC's vision to grow and impact the community, we have started the construction of the new chapel.

-The location of the new chapel is adjacent to the open field.

-In the fall of 2006 we started clearing the trees to make room for the new chapel

The Tabernacle is going to be built in three stages as the donations come in.

1. First we prepared the site and poured the foundation. Special thanks to Barry Luciak and Quality Concrete.

- This building has a cement slab with in- floor heating.

- We can use the foundation as an outdoor basketball court until stage two.

2. Second is to raise the structure

- This stage will be the longest stage and will include the installation of the fireplace

3. Third is interior and exterior cosmetic work.

-This includes, insulating it so that it can eventually be a year round facility. The plans include the potential for future bathrooms. The bathrooms will be built in the future as the need increases and finances allow.

We want to build a Chapel that will be around for generations that we can be proud to leave behind to future generations in Alberta.

-The front of the sanctuary has a place for colored glass above the stage area. We want a stained glass window that has the same verse as in the old Tabernacle.

For by grace are ye saved through faith.

The sanctuary will have seats rather then pews so that the building can be used for many different events and so that it is easy to arrange the seating with the different needs and camp programs. The chairs can be arranged to face either the stage or the riverrock fireplace

The double-sided fireplace will provide a beautiful centerpiece to gather around on cold summer nights and fall retreats. The foyer can be used as a small classroom for cozy events.

The Exterior of the building will have siding on it that will look like wood to keep with the outdoor surroundings of the campgrounds. The river rock stub wall is for aesthetics and durability.

We currently have 119,000 dollars raised for this capital project and the completion cost will be around the 350,000-dollar range with the help of company sponsorship and volunteer labor.

The original Tabernacle, which was built in 1943, will be preserved and used as a children/youth tabernacle.
